Whole House Integration
Imagine this: You come home from a comforting day at the beach or sportive round of golf. You enter the security code on the keypad by the front gate. The front gate unlocks, the TiKi torches lite up, and the entrance lights come on to guide you into your house, all while you enjoy hearing your favorite music play on the multi zone music system. With a push of a button the sliding doors automatically open and air-conditioning is being turned off to save power, the lights in and around the house fade to your favorite intensity. You walk in the TV room, kick your feet on the coffee table and press a few other buttons on the RF remote. The curtains lower, lights fade, a plasma TV comes up out of the cabinet, and tuned to your favorite channel.

This is not future any more, welcome to todays digital home. The technology for home integration has evolved over the last few years and prices for design and installation have come down. Home integration has become an integral part of building and remodeling homes today. Adding a state-of-the-art home theater, with music piped into every room, and a setup that allows you to monitor your home while you're away all are within reach on almost any budget. Up the ante, and you can fully automate your swimming pool & spa, window blinds, sliding doors and air-conditioning system.

Today, there is much more to a smart home then a remote control, receiver, LCD television and a few speakers. Hawaii Smart Home, Inc. is the Big Islands leading home integration specialist and can assist you with the design, installation and maintenance of a whole house experience. With the right equipment; whole house WiFi, automated lighting, multi room speaker placement, HDMI distribution, and a few extra touches, we can literally turn your house into a smart home.

  • Automated zone lighting system.
  • Automated zone shading system.
  • Internet and whole house WiFi with true roaming capabilities.

Single Room Control
These systems are designed with simplicity in mind and typically focus on a single room solution. Generally the whole audio and video system is controlled by a single RF remote. Utilizing RF instead of IR increases the reliability of the system and allows you eliminating the need of pointing the remote at the TV.

Most single room systems consist of a surround sound receiver, 5-7 in-ceiling/in-wall/stand-alone speakers, subwoofer, LED/Plasma TV, cable or satellite DVR, BluRay and off course AirPlay in the living/media room. All controlled with one remote.

We have many years of experience designing, installing, programming, and testing single room control solutions so that with one push of a button;
  • the amplifier turns on and switches to the right source input,
  • the TV turns on and switches to the correct source input,
  • the cable/satellite DVR turns on and switches to your favorites channel,
  • and the remote flips to the cable/satellite page showing the correct buttons.
For other rooms in a single-room solution such as bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen etc., we typically offer a simpler solution that includes a wall mounted LED TV with soundbar that has the cable/satellite cords and DVR hiding out of view behind the TV. The remotes from the cable/satellite providers are programed to turn the TV on and off and to control and mute the audio volume.

Audio and Video
Home audio can be divided into two main categories. One is music and the other is surround sound/TV. Although the devices both categories preform basically the same function, producing audio, each device is specifically designed for its purpose. The audio device for music will utilize each speaker, constantly distributing the audio as evenly as possible. Audio for surround sound /TV on the other hand will use most speakers only to produce sound effects that enhance the visual effects on the television.

In the last few years the prices of flat screen TVs have been steadily dropping and the maximum available screen size has been increasing. The two main stream technologies for flat screen TVs are: LED/LCD and plasma. OLED with even better color ratios is already on the horizon.

We have many years of experience in designing audio systems with the customers specific preference and budget as our primary focus. Selecting the right receivers, distribution systems, amplifiers and speakers to create a system that out preforms customer expectations.

Security and Access

Although Hawaii is a very save place, and especially the west coast of the Big Island, our customers are comforted with the ability to access the security camera system of their Hawaii residence from anywhere in the world. They opt for either real time images or previously recorded images all in HD resolution.

Another smart implementation of a security camera system is the ability to see who is at the door from your smart phone or tablet. Combining this with electric and magnetic door/gate locks and you dont even have to leave your chair to let visitors into your home!

Network and Certification
In the future almost all electrical devices will be connected to the internet through either wireless (WiFi) or wired (Ethernet) networks. Certainly a weak link in any smart home will be the integrity of the network. To ensure that systems work as designed, we test all networks we install or maintain with our Fluke DTX-1800 cable validation tester. The test results from this tester will identify any error and future bottle necks and or problems so that we can offer solutions to improve the integrity and reliability of the network.

Commercial Solutions
In the evolving marketplace, business are relying more on automated systems to communicate to their customers, integrate operations and provide robust security solutions. Commercial solutions are highly personalized as each application is required to meet specific needs.

Renewable Energy Installed a touch-screen display that communicated to visitors the real-time power generated by solar panels. A custom designed user interface was designed with interactive media by Flypaper and installed to integrate with existing equipment.
